How To Choose A Service?
All Dayspring services are available to individuals and organisations.
You are free to select as many services as you choose. Dayspring will
provide a package of services that are custom-made to meet your individual
or organisational needs. Below is a list of current services available,
with a brief description. (back

Counselling and Psychotherapy
A process where individuals are helped in dealing with emotional,
personal and interpersonal conflicts/problems by a professionally
qualified and trained therapist. This can be provided in many forms,
eg one-to-one, couples, group or family therapy. Contracts can range
from six sessions, to being open ended, on a once-a-week or fortnightly
basis. (back

Life Coaching
Life coaching is a way of providing people with personal support that
is committed to their success and development. The coach is someone
who will work with the individual to identify where they are now,
where they want to be, and how to get there, and then keeps them on
track until they achieve their goals. The coaching role is to help
people find their own way and keep them moving in the direction they
choose. (back

NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming)
Explores the relationship between how we think (neuro), how we communicate
both verbally and non-verbally (linguistic), and our patterns of behaviour
and emotions (programmes). Essentially NLP is how to use the language
of the mind to consistently achieve specific and desired outcomes.
One of the keys to NLP is the understanding that each of us has one
predominant sense that we use to interpret and make sense of the world
around us. NLP is a collection of concepts, practical techniques and
procedures that offers a truly effective toolkit for any individual
to better understand how they communicate and, in turn, to be more
effective communicators with others. (back

Stress Management
The association of Insurance and Risk Managers state that “Stress
is likely to become the most dangerous emerging risk to business in
the early part of the 21st Century”. Stress is an accepted part
of life, but it should not be the main feature of anyone’s life.
Employers lose millions of pounds every year in staff sickness due
to stress related complaints: both individuals and business suffer
as a result. The Dayspring stress management course helps clarify
what stress is, the impact of stress upon individuals and businesses,
how to recognise the signs and symptoms of stress, and how to gain
practical help and ideas that will combat the effects of stress in
the workplace, and lead to everyone taking better care of themselves. (back

Leadership Training
If people look to you for leadership, if you aspire to take the lead,
or if you are responsible for leadership within your organisation
Dayspring can help you to become an even better leader. Maybe you
are someone who wants to develop the self-confidence, vision, wisdom,
motivational impact and delivery skills that most effective leaders
have. Dayspring can help you to explore the factors which hold you
back when you want to step forward as a self-assured leader. The Leadership
Training will develop your capacity to create reliable, robust and
attractive visions; to improve your self-confidence; to assist you
in making decisions under pressure; to learn to inspire and motivate
team members. (back

Diversity and Race Awareness Training
Today, there are enormous pressures on organisations to improve diversity
in their own workforces: the implications of the report of the Stephen
Lawrence Inquiry for public services have been huge, and the business
case for working with diversity is compelling. It is clear that diversity
and race awareness training can and does work, but too many organisations
fail to realise the benefits. Dayspring’s Diversity and Race
Awareness training helps organisations make sense of recent diversity
legislation and helps them understand the sensitivity and complexity
surrounding diversity and race awareness. It is more than equal opportunities;
it is about acknowledging and respecting difference, and the contribution
that this can make to the organisation. Dayspring training provides
a host of detailed good practice techniques and guides for better
informing staff at all levels, and of dealing with individual and
organisational resistance. (back

Interpersonal Skills
This training course focuses upon effective communication skills and
how these can help to improve the quality of relationships, whether
with colleagues, partners, family or friends. It explores verbal and
non-verbal communication, including body language, how you can improve
your listening skills and help you to be more assertive and confident.
The course provides tools for dealing with conflicts, criticisms,
learning to receive compliments, and difficult situations. This is
a practical course that involves role play, as well as group exercises
and activities to work on. (back

Counselling Skills Training
If you are interested in pursuing a career in counselling, or are
looking to improve your counselling skills in a work or volunteering
capacity then this is an excellent introduction to learning about
counselling skills. The skills highlighted in this course are very
specific, and will help you to better understand yourself and others.
It explores how to relate sensitively to others, how to listen effectively,
and how to engage with people who talk about difficult issues in a
supportive and non-judgemental way. (back

Empowering Women
Women far outnumber men in accessing therapeutic services and self-development
programmes. Women appear far more aware, and interested, in the impact
that life circumstances have on their well-being. Many women today
have to multi-task as partners, mothers, students, employees, carers
etc. They know the importance of looking after themselves in order
to achieve and enjoy their desired goals. There are some women who
have not yet begun to invest in themselves, through either being damaged
by abusive relationships, or by feeling confused and struggling with
how to live up to images of women portrayed in the media and expectations
and pressures from family, friends and peers. This training helps
women from whatever background to explore positive and negative views
of themselves, to build confidence and self-esteem, to provide support
and encouragement in order to realise their dreams and goals, and
to become the best they can be. (back

Empowering Men
All too often men are depicted as struggling to express themselves
emotionally in appropriate ways, are too aggressive, unable to think
and feel at a deeper level, only good at ‘traditional male’
pursuits. Sometimes the reinforcing of these negative stereotypes
in the media, and society as a whole, can leave men feeling inadequate,
uncertain, indecisive, and reluctant to explore new ways of making
meaning of their lives. We know that fewer men than women access counselling
for psychological help, that men are less likely to visit their GP
for medical concerns, and that peer pressure often prevents men from
opening up to male friends about problems they are struggling with.
This training aims to address these realities; to empower men to take
more emotional risks; to understand how, why and when to access particular
support services; to explore the dangers of ‘bottling up feelings’
and to see the benefits of being able to express themselves more honestly
and openly, without fear of being criticised or judged. (back

Business Consultancy
This service is particularly targeted at new businesses and charities
who are struggling to make sense of the minefield of policies, procedures
and guidelines that are often required by the Charities Commission,
Companies House and as result of Government directives. Just a few
examples of these are: How to draft and implement a Diversity Policy?
How to carry out a Staff Skills and Training Audit? Monitoring and
Evaluating services more effectively; Implementing Equal Opportunities
guidelines; Supervision procedures. With experience of being a Director
of a Charity, and as Company Directors, we have a broad range of first-hand
knowledge and experience that can make a real difference to your new
or existing organisation. (back

Massage
A systematic, therapeutic stroking and kneading of the soft tissues
of the body. The word derives from the Greek ‘Masso’,
to knead, and the Arabic ‘Mass’, to press gently. It has
been used for thousands of years, with the recognition that touch
is the most instinctive response to pain. (back

Reflexology
A form of complementary medicine involving a method of treatment using
massage to reflex areas found in the feet and hands. Most commonly,
the feet are used as the areas to be treated. Believed to have originated
in China 5000 years ago, when pressure therapy was used to correct
energy fields in the body. (back

Aromatherapy
The systematic use of essential oils in holistic treatments to improve
physical and emotional well-being. Essential oils, extracted from
plants, possess distinctive therapeutic properties, which can be utilised
to improve health and prevent disease. These natural plant oils are
used in a number of ways, including massage, in baths, as inhalations
(not for asthmatics). Aromatherapy is especially effective in the
treatment of stress-related problems. (back

Homeopathy
A gentle holistic system of healing, which uses plants, minerals and
some animal remedies, prescribed on the principle that ‘like
cures like’. Practitioners work by gently boosting the natural
energy of the body. Homeopathic treatment can aid recovery in many
conditions where a medical practitioner might wish to avoid the use
of certain medicines. (back
